Head Start

A Head Start grantee for nearly 20 years, Sheltering Arms offers a full-day, full-year schedule to accommodate working parents’ schedules, as well as blended classroom structures that integrate children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Some of Sheltering Arms’ past recognition with Head Start include being recognized by the National Head Start Association (NHSA) as a Program of Excellence, Head Start’s most prestigious award recognizing program quality and effectiveness. The agency has also had the honor of being named one of NHSA’s Outstanding Grantees of the Year and Model Early Head Start Classroom for the state of Georgia. In this role, Sheltering Arms provides training and technical assistance to other Head Start programs from across the state, helping them to improve the quality of curriculum and teacher interaction for infants and toddlers.
