What Is the Georgia Pre-K Program?
Georgia Pre-K is a state-funded early education program administered through the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL). The program is designed to prepare four-year-olds for kindergarten through structured play, literacy development, math readiness, and social-emotional learning.
At Sheltering Arms, Georgia Pre-K classrooms use The Creative Curriculum, a research-based approach that builds confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine love of learning in every child.
Who Qualifies for Georgia Pre-K at Sheltering Arms?
Your child must be four years old on or before September 1 of the school year they plan to attend. The Georgia Pre-K Program is available to all Georgia residents regardless of income. Families who also qualify for Head Start or other income-based programs may be eligible for additional support services through Sheltering Arms.
Spots are limited and fill quickly. Applying early gives your child the best chance of securing a seat for the upcoming school year.
What Your Child Will Experience
Sheltering Arms Pre-K classrooms are built around the whole child. Every day includes a balance of structured learning and purposeful play, guided by qualified teachers who hold early childhood education credentials.
Your child will work on:
Language and literacy skills that build a foundation for reading. Math concepts introduced through hands-on exploration. Social skills like sharing, communication, and conflict resolution. Creative expression through art, music, and movement. School-readiness habits including routines, transitions, and independence.
Our classrooms are NAEYC-accredited, meaning they meet the highest national standards for early childhood education quality.
