Race and Equity in Early Childhood Education

All children, regardless of race, deserve access to early learning opportunities that will set them up for success in school and life, but is the playing field level?

Join Sheltering Arms and special guests as we share data about the population we serve, identify gaps with regard to racial equity, and discuss what early learning programs are doing to address it.

Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, president emerita of Spelman College, will kick off the evening with a brief presentation and lead this insightful conversation. She is the author of the widely-acclaimed book “Can We Talk about Race?” and the national bestseller “Why Are All of the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?”
